RESEARCH

Netaji Institute for Asian Studies, founded in 1981 under the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal, is dedicated to advancing high-quality research in the social sciences. Supported by a regular maintenance grant from the state government and strengthened by additional resource mobilization, the Institute continues to focus on its core research areas. These include the study of the Indian National Movement with special attention to the contribution of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and the Indian National Army, the evolving processes of nation-building in South and South-East Asia, and the broader dynamics of Asian relations. The Institute also undertakes research on ecological issues in India and across the Asian region. Most of its research activities are carried out through funds received from the Government of West Bengal.
